About the Instructor
Forbes, Newsweek, Inc., Politico, NPR, HuffPost, The Hill, and many other sources have cited or quoted Jonathan Rupprecht who is a drone lawyer and a commercial pilot with single-engine, multi-engine, and instrument ratings. He is also an FAA certificated airplane flight instructor and instrument flight instructor. Jonathan was an adjunct faculty professor at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
Jonathan authored a drone book being used at multiple universities around the U.S. He also created the popular Drone Operator's Logbook. He co-authored a legal treatise on unmanned aircraft that is being published by the American Bar Association. He worked with John Taylor on the famous Taylor v. FAA cases in the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals where the court sided with them and struck down some of the FAA's regulations as being illegal. In other words, they beat the FAA at the federal appeals court right below the United States Supreme Court.
How to be confident at flying under the drone regulations without knowing aviation, even though you're struggling to juggle work, life, and study time.
Do any of these statements accurately reflect you?
“I have very little time to dedicate to studying because of my work/life balance. I can’t waste my precious time reading material that does not matter.”
“Can I find someone who is ACTUALLY qualified? The course I took appeared to be designed by some guy who has little aviation background. Some of the courses online had to hire actual real pilots to teach the material. I’m tired of posers.”
“I know nothing about aviation. I’m concerned I won’t ‘get it’ and this will hurt my business.”
“I want to know the regulations so I can fly confidently and not have to worry about looking over my shoulder for some police officer or FAA guy to fine me. I want to be free to get the job done, not getting ambushed by some regulation gotcha.”
If you found yourself saying, “That’s me!” to any of those statements, this course is for you.
Why should I take this course?
Remote Pilot Knowledge Exam This course does NOT cover all the knowledge test areas for the remote pilot knowledge exam such as weather, chart reading, airspace, etc. It is only on regulations. Regulations is 15 – 25% of the initial remote pilot knowledge exam and 30-40% of the recurrent exam. So whether you are studying for the initial test or the recurrent test, this course can help you. This course is specifically designed to cover what you need to know from Part 107. Keep in mind there are some other regulations you can be tested on but the bulk of the questions come from Part 107.
Have an FAA Waiver? The waivers being given out by the FAA (e.g. night waiver) require the responsible person to “ensure the remote PIC, manipulators of the controls, and VO are informed and familiar with part 107 regulations not waived[.]” A responsible person can choose to require the remote PIC, manipulator of the controls, and VO to all go through this course; thus, saving the responsible person time while providing a 3rd party check on the training. Note that we also have a night operations training course specifically designed for those operating under a night waiver.
Qualified. The course was designed AND taught by an FAA certificated flight instructor, not just some remote pilot turned drone “expert.” The instructor has been a commercial pilot and flight instructor for over a decade. The course instructor is also a professor at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and practicing aviation attorney.
Insured. Rupprecht Drones has a 1-million-dollar policy covering negligent instruction. If we say something incorrect and there is an accident, this insurance policy is there to make things whole. Do any of the other courses out there carry insurance? Insurance is what separates the posers from the professionals.
It's an Awesome Deal. The instructor is a flight instructor and practicing attorney. If you were to hire someone of his experience to do the equivalent in person, this would cost you thousands of dollars because of the time and research that went into creating 40 videos and 100+ test questions.

Feedback of online training course
The course was great and easy to follow. I only had a problem with one section of the course. While on section 107.73 & 107.74 it replayed 107.35, control of multiple drones by one PIC. The test covered the correct material. Other than tha...
