Jonathan Rupprecht

New York Times, Forbes, Newsweek, Inc., Politico, NPR, HuffPost, The Hill, and many other sources have cited or quoted Jonathan Rupprecht who is a practicing drone lawyer and a commercial pilot with single-engine, multi-engine, and instrument ratings. He is also an FAA-certificated airplane flight instructor and instrument flight instructor. (CFI/CFII) He co-authored a legal treatise on unmanned aircraft that was published by the American Bar Association. He has helped many clients achieve numerous exemptions, waivers (beyond the line of sight, 500 drone light shows, over people, etc.) operating certificates, and airspace authorizations over the years and brings that experience to his teaching. He has worked on numerous high-profile legal cases such as the Taylor v. FAA cases in the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals which resulted in the drone registration regulations being struck down as illegal. He was the arguing attorney in the RaceDayQuads LLC lawsuit seeking to strike down the remote ID regulations as illegal. He has also been involved in numerous enforcement cases on the defense side of FAA investigations or criminal prosecutions against drone pilots.

Does your course cover all the material I need to pass the remote pilot knowledge test?
This course was designed specifically for the airspace, chart reading, and requirements section portion which makes up 15-25% of the initial knowledge exam. It also includes many other things that are not included on the knowledge test but are extremely useful for everyday life.


Will we be able to use one course to train and retrain the entire staff?
No, here’s why. (1) Each person would be quizzed which forces retention of the material and (2) each completion certificate has their name on it.  The certificate acts as a documentation of training in case of an FAA audit. The student has access to the course for a year. If you have more than 4 people going through the course, contact us and we can arrange a discount.

I downloaded a free study guide from the internet to study for the exam. How is this course any different?
This course was designed to teach you the knowledge you need to know so you can fly confidently in the United States PLUS many other things not covered by many other study guides. Why? Most study guides train people to pass just the test.  Great effort was put into this course to point out things rarely talked about that are of great importance. For example, we talk about some of the criminal laws applicable to drone flying. Furthermore, I know of no other study guides that have over 100 + quiz questions designed by a current flight instructor who is also a practicing aviation attorney.
